FAQ

1. What is a fanzine?

A fan zine is a compilation of non-official works made by fans under a certain theme.

2. What is this zine about?

The contents to be showcased in this zine are fan works such as art and fics depicting all bottom Aether ships. The zine is strictly for bottom Aether ships only, that is to say there will be no contents featuring Aether being shown as the top.

3. Is this zine non-profit/for-profit/for-charity?

This zine is free to download and enjoy! However, we ask you to consume it for personal use only. No digital reselling and reprinting for commercial purposes are allowed.

4. Is this zine SFW? Or what content will be featured/is allowed in the zine?

“Post Tenebras Lux” is a general, safe-for-work bottom Aether zine. Although the main focus of this fan project is general, for-all-ages content, we are also creating a rated-18+ side called “Lux in Tenebris” for those who are interested in illustrating and creating such content. Keep in mind, however, that we do not accept entries with sensitive subjects typically categorized as  "Dead Dove, Do Not Eat" content.

5. I'm under 18. Can I apply? Or what is the age requirement for this zine?

The contributors we are accepting in this zine are only those who have truthfully confirmed that they are ages 18 and above, whether it is for the SFW zine or the NSFW counterpart. This is to avoid legal implications regarding minors participating in a fan project which involves explicit content. If we suspect that any contributor is lying about their age, we will dismiss them out of the project immediately.

6. Will there be merch?

As our zine is digital and non-profit, we will not be making physical merch. However, we have plans on creating free downloadable wallpapers and some digital stickers/emotes you can use for your Discord server or other socials that support the feature.

7. Is this zine guest-invitation only or are you accepting contributors?

We invite guest creators and welcome any contributors who wish to apply. All applicants are welcome to submit old or new works and we are not strict with what we accept so long as it fits our basic criteria.

Keep in mind, however, while anyone who loves bottom Aether can join this project, we still require interested parties to sign up via our registration form. It will allow us to contact applicants and also sort out which ones to be invited into our Discord server, as we will be inviting only guests and contributors who wish to create new works into the server for easier communication during the creation phase.

8. How many contributors and submissions will you be accepting?

Our love for Aether encompasses all the stars in the sky. As such, we are accepting as many contributors and submissions as we can, as long as they love Aether and bottom Aether especially.

...Or so we wished. Although it pains us to set a limit, we are also aware of the impracticality as well as the constraints of time and resources in including all bottom Aether food ever conceivable into this tiny love letter. As such, after much consideration from the interest check period and further discussions, we decided to set a range on how many contributors and submissions we will accept. The rough estimate is between *100-400 contributors/submissions and this encompasses all types of entries ranging from fanarts and fanfics to poems, cosplay photos, and MMD-based illustrations. If you have other types of submissions you think will be great to be included in this zine, let us know and we will consider including them if it is possible!

* We may increase the slots depending on whether we have more submissions than anticipated and whether we are still able to accommodate them.

9. How do you compensate your contributors?

As this is a free-to-download/non-profit zine meant to be a love letter to our beloved, ever-Aethernal beauty, we do not compensate our contributors in anything but our shared love for Aether and food for the Aether nation.

10. I am not confident in my ability to write/draw, can I still join?

As Van Gogh puts it, "What is done in love is well done." As long as you put effort in your submission, by all means, do participate! That being said, we do want the entries to follow a baseline of quality to make this zine enjoyable for the readers and everyone involved. This means no stick figure drawings or ironic fics made either in laziness or bad faith. Please be considerate to us and our readers' time! Thank you.

11. How does your selection process work?

Our selection process operates on the first come, first serve basis. While the slots are open, we are not stringent with what entries we accept into the zine, as long as they fit the theme (bottom Aether) and meet our basic criteria as mentioned in the answer to the previous question.  We also do not necessarily take into account whether you are active in the community. As such, while submitting a bottom Aether-centric work as a portfolio sample is encouraged, it is not required. Thus, do not be discouraged to participate if you wish, even if you had not made any bottom Aether works previously.

12. Can I post WIPs or post my finished piece?

Contributors may post a WIP preview or snippet of their work on their own social media pages as long as it is not the final or finished piece. Two months or exactly sixty days after the zine is published, contributors will be allowed to post their pieces on their social media if they wish.

13. Why is my favorite top x Aether ship not here?

We do not restrict what ship content our guest artists, writers, and contributors make. However, while the slots are available, we open our applications to any bottom Aether lovers and encourage those who wish to participate and contribute to the content of their favorite pairings to join us. That said, we may impose a cap on how many specific pairing-centric works we can accept depending on whether we already have too many submissions on that particular ship. On the application form, we will be asking you what main and side pairings you want to make content for. In the event that we are no longer accepting new entries for your primary ship, you are welcome to submit works depicting your favorite secondary pairings.

14. I don't see the answer to my question...

If you have any unanswered questions, reservations, or suggestions regarding this zine or the people involved in it, please do inform us via DM for our consideration and we will address any questions or issues you have. Thank you.
